Along with local architectural photographer Simon Sugden, I will be photographing and documenting the first stage of the transformation of the former New Victoria/Gaumont/Odeon back to a single-auditorium venue.
This huge classic 1930s venue, once Europe's largest cinema, will be stripped of all the partitioning walls and structures that were added in the late sixties to reveal the original features and scope of this amazing venue.
The project is being driven by the Bradford Live consortium led by the determined Lee Craven of Jesgrove Ltd. The intention is to reveal the huge auditorium so that interested parties and the public in general can visualise the scope of this exciting project.
The stripping out will start in late January and images from this should start to appear in the weeks and months following.
